Minneapolis church shelter

Kwaanza Church

Here’s a story from the Minneapolis Star Tribune about what happened when a compassionate pastor, Alika Galloway of Kwaanza Church, and a researcher from the  University of Minnesota collaborated to create safe, welcoming space for women in the sex trade using a church building they no longer needed for worship.  The pews and windows are even being sold to raise funds for the venture, now called the Northside Women’s Space.

This story is a reminder that great ministry can happen when we listen to the need of those around us and creatively team the sacred and secular to respond to that need.    Here’s the link.
